DESCRIPTION

We are seeking compassionate, skilled, and dedicated Registered Nurses (RN) to join our dynamic team on a 14-bed Medical-Surgical Unit that provides care for medicine and behavioral health patients in a secured environment. This role is ideal for nurses who are committed to nursing excellence, patient safety, and family-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to a diverse patient population, including those with medical-surgical and behavioral health needs.
  • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment within a secured unit.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families.
  • Monitor patient progress and respond promptly to changes in condition.
  • Uphold the highest standards of professional practice and ethical behavior.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and unit-based projects.

Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing.

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of California.

  • Current BART, or BLS certification at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six months of hire date.

  • CPI or equivalent behavioral health crisis intervention training (or must be obtained within 6 months of hire).

  • Minimum one (1) year of acute care RN experience in medical-surgical or behavioral health nursing.

  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, and critical thinking skills.

  • Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • BSN or MSN.

  • Professional nursing certification.

  • Experience working with vulnerable patient populations.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on-call and locations based on the 24-hour Medical Center's business needs.

  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

  • Per diem shift requirement is an average of 1 shift per week per 4-week schedule. Must be available 1 weekend shift per 4-week schedule and a minimum of 1 holiday. This is subject to change based on individual department needs.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $180,716 - $180,716 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $86.55 - $86.55

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
