Analytics Data Engineer - Contract

Overall Purpose

Technical expert responsible for building and modernizing Data Science Tools and Data Assets.

Essential Functions

• Write data infrastructure & analytics software tools for Data Science.
• Guide Data Scientists on best practices in software engineering.
• Modernize existing SAS and Hive SQL codebase to higher performance structures leveraging parallel computing capabilities
• Instrument data feeds for observability, profiling, and monitoring
• Develop shared resources to support Data Science work such as automated profiling and analysis tools
• Write detailed, complete, and enduring documentation to enable long term support
• Supporting the company's commitment to risk management and protecting the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data

Minimum Qualifications

• Education and/or experience typically obtained through a Bachelor's degree
• Must be able to convert from SAS to Python
• Hive SQL
• Spark
• Software/data engineering in Python
• Machine Learning toolkits in Python/Spark
• Building reusable frameworks for data ingestion and storage in Hadoop or AWS/S3
• Relational databases, optimizing/tuning queries, indexing, partitioning, etc.
• SAS and the ability to convert from SAS to Python
• Strong communication skills
• Background and drug screen

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior demonstrated experience 2-4 years
• Scala/Java experience
• Fin-tech experience

Physical Requirements

Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours.
