Printpack Medical is seeking a hands-on candidate to fill the position of Process Engineer with a primary focus on our converting operation. This position will work closely with management, production, and maintenance personnel to reduce waste and support operations.

The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to solve problems both as an individual and leading project teams. They will also have strong mechanical aptitude, able to design and troubleshoot complex assemblies in a production environment. This position will be located in Marshall, NC and will report to the Operational Excellence and Engineering Manager. Key responsibilities include:
  • Troubleshooting real-time production problems for the converting process, including after-hours support as needed
  • Lead the development, review and approval of standard operating conditions, standard work procedures, product specifications, and process tooling
  • Maintain standard operating conditions and production databases for production equipment
  • Lead improvement projects for waste, quality, and productivity through Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing techniques
  • Lead and work with cross-functional teams (Quality, Maintenance, Production and Product Development) to support and improve plant operations, improve product quality and customer satisfaction, and execute CapEx projects
  • Design, specification, installation, start-up, troubleshooting, and improvement of production equipment, modifications, tooling, and various support systems
  • Attend/support trials and provide troubleshooting assistance for process-related issues
  • Coordinating improvement/root cause corrective action activities in order to meet the quality expectations of the customer
The ideal candidate will have skills or education that include:
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
  • Ability to troubleshoot with an eye for detail
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to lead and manage multiple projects/assignments
  • Ability to identify process improvement opportunities
  • Strong capacity to learn quickly and understand complex information.
  • Demonstrates high initiative and pro-activity
  • Proven ability to work effectively in fast-paced manufacturing environments
  • Strong project management skills with ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and multiple stakeholders
  • Competence in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc)
  • Drawing software training, i.e., CAD, SolidWorks
  • Strong mechanical skills
  • Courses in Statics, Dynamics, Mechanics of Materials, Thermodynamics, Engineering Design, and Fluid Mechanics
