Job Summary

The Financial Aid Coordinator is responsible for managing and administering the financial aid process for students. This includes the evaluation and quality control of financial aid documents, for determining aid eligibility based on federal, state and institutional guidelines and for the awarding of aid packages such as grants, loans and scholarships. This position provides guidance to students and families on financial aid options, helps ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and supports efforts to promote access to education through effective service delivery of the financial programs.

This role involves a high level of decision-making responsibilities, including exercising professional judgment in evaluating and approving exceptions or adjustments to student records, financial aid eligibility or academic policies. The individual must assess unique student circumstances and make informed decisions that align with institutional policies and regulatory guidelines.

TCC is a multi-campus institution, this position is located at one of TCC's campuses and/or supports TCC locations, including the Dick Conner Correctional Center.


Essential Duties

Assists with the development, planning, evaluation and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and procedures for the processing, administering and monitoring of Title IV eligibility. Coordinates with counterparts and other staff to ensure consistency across all areas of the college.

Requires advanced decision-making and the use of professional judgment to assess individual student situations and implement policy exceptions or adjustments as warranted, such as Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), Unaccompanied/Homeless Youth Determinations, Income and/or Budget adjustments.

Plans, implements and monitors financial aid student service delivery activities related to processing of student aid documentation and forms, outreach to assist students and families with federal student aid process and scholarships.

Monitors targeted individual students' eligibility and resolve data conflicts and over awards.

Make presentations, lead workshops and disseminate information regarding federal student aid, state and institutional aid.

Provides financial aid counseling to students and parents regarding all aspects of the financial aid process, this may include counseling on loan repayment and consolidation options. Makes necessary referrals to other student services and support.

Participates in the development of institutional financial aid policies and procedures to positively impact efficiency and quality of services provided.

Assists with overall effectiveness of the Financial Aid Office, especially during peak processing times and with high priority, time-sensitive projects.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or other related area. Degree requirement may be substituted with relevant and equivalent work experience.

Experience working with Federal Title IV regulations, policies and procedures related to financial aid.

Personal computer skills.

Ability to perform duties on one's own initiative with minimal supervision.

Ability to interact effectively with student population and all college service areas.


Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Business, Accounting or other related area. Degree requirement may be substituted with relevant and equivalent work experience.

3 years experience working in financial aid.

Supervisory experience.
