Job Title: Investment Operator Shift: Monday-Friday Swing Shift: 2:00pm - 10:30pm Pay Range: $19.00-21.00 + Shift Pay Differential (Hourly, Non-Exempt) PURPOSE: The Investment Operator supports PCC Carson City's precision casting process by producing high-quality ceramic shell molds used in aerospace and industrial applications. Working under general supervision, this role operates manual and robotic equipment to dip and stucco wax pattern assemblies, maintains slurry tanks, and ensures molds meet strict quality standards. This is an excellent entry-level opportunity to learn specialized foundry skills in a stable manufacturing environment. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Shell Mold Production * Perform manual or robotic dip and stucco operations to build shell molds according to production requirements. * Inspect wax patterns and shell molds for cracks, bridging, or contamination. * Follow technique cards to verify coats, drying times, and special handling instructions. * Mix and maintain slurry tanks, ensuring proper viscosity, cleanliness, and accurate data recording. Quality Assurance * Inspect molds for strength and conformance to specifications. * Record work performed in the system and maintain accurate documentation. * Identify potential causes of investment-related casting defects and escalate issues appropriately. Safety & Equipment Care * Safely operate mixers, lifting devices, and hand tools in compliance with plant safety policies. * Maintain clean and optimal working conditions for slurry tanks, mixers, Zahn cups, and related tools. * Adhere to all safety and environmental procedures in the shell/invest area. Team Support * Train and support less experienced operators as assigned. * Perform housekeeping duties to maintain a safe, organized workspace. * Contribute to special projects and assist as needed to meet production goals. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: * This position reports directly to the Production Supervisor. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods. * Capable of lifting and carrying up to 35 pounds. * Comfortable working in a foundry environment with exposure to heat, dust, and noise. * Ability to safely operate lifting devices (cranes, forklifts, lift tables) with provided training. PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: * High school diploma or GED. * Previous experience in shell investment, foundry operations, or related manufacturing preferred but not required. * Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and maintain accurate records. * Strong hand-eye coordination and attention to detail in manual and robotic processes. * Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions. * Willingness to learn specialized foundry processes and complete on-the-job training.
