The Energy Business Unit is seeking a Structural CAD & Revit BIM Modeler/Designer to work within a multi-discipline team to develop efficient and reliable design of civil activities.

The modeler/designer will coordinate his/her design activities to maintain project schedules and ensure successful project execution for renewable energy and power delivery projects throughout the Midwest and Western United States.

The location for this hybrid-friendly position is flexible with a preference for individuals who are based near one of DEA's offices in California, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, Texas, Utah, or Washington. Fully remote may be considered depending on circumstances. Some travel for project execution may be required.

What You'll Do Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and prepare detailed structural drawings and layouts for substations and renewable energy projects using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Collaborate with structural engineers to interpret design concepts and produce accurate drawings that comply with project specifications and industry standards.
  • Ensure compliance with local building codes and industry regulations specific to substation and renewable energy designs.
  • Revise and update drawings based on feedback from engineers and project stakeholders.
  • Conduct site visits to gather information and verify dimensions for existing structures.
  • Assist in the preparation of project documentation, including specifications, reports, and project plans.
  • Maintain organized project files and documentation for substation and renewable energy projects.
  • Participate in project meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and updates related to project timelines and deliverables.
  • Stay current with advancements in CAD technology and structural design practices, particularly in relation to substation and renewable energy projects.
What You Bring Required Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in CAD, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a CAD/Revit Modeler, preferably in substation or renewable energy sectors but other construction sectors are also encouraged
  • Proficiency with documenting structural analysis, concrete design, steel design, soil mechanics and foundation designs in CAD and Revit.
  • Proficiency in interpreting structural modeling software outputs such as STADD Pro and foundation design software such as LPile is a plus
  • Working knowledge of 3D civil software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D a plus
  • Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and practices related to substations and renewable energy.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Work well with others in a team setting and have strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage CAD and Revit plans and details on multiple projects and meet establish deadlines.

  • Potential salary range: $72,500 - $120,640
    • The posted salary range represents the typical range for this position and is provided in accordance with applicable state and local transparency laws. Actual compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
