How do you deal with a slacker who does not pull her own weight on a project?

In today’s workplace, many people are fortunate enough to be able to work for employers that give them ownership of their work and projects, and encourage teamwork with limited supervision. While most employees will work an honest day’s work for an honest day’s pay, some choose to slack off when they are not under constant supervision. This can be especially harmful when you are required to work with such an individual on a team project. What is the best way to deal a teammate who does minimal work and endangers the project? Is it better to turn her in and request a replacement for the project or to try to work with her? Let us know your take on the matter.
